Master Stylist Greg Cassese has been fascinated and intrigued by what makes good hair since he was 16 years old, cutting and coloring his own. Encouraged by his curiosity, he enrolled in the Aveda Institute in Manhattan before apprenticing at Mizu Salon under the veteran tutelage of Bumble and Bumble and Vidal Sassoon educators. His thirst for knowledge led him to expand his repertoire with training from American Crew, Toni & Guy, Redken and other prestigious brands.
Greg currently services his dedicated clientele at Cutler Salon in Soho. He also serves as the company’s Hair Cutting Education Director, facilitating classes and providing individual coaching for the salon’s upcoming talent. Under his tutelage, he has launched the careers of numerous up-and-coming hair artists providing the tools and guidance for success in the industry.
Inspired by the urban grit and architecture of his long-time home New York City, his work has been seen in the pages of Teen Vogue, Allure, and Cosmopolitan and featured on the The Racheal Ray Show numerous times.
With a keen eye for integrating special signature details into classically technical hair designs, Greg knows how to break the rules because he has a true grasp on the foundations of his craft. He explains, “I see beauty in imperfections. That’s what makes hair unique.” It is with this mantra that he is able to give every client a haircut that looks good styled or falls right into place effortlessly.
Greg is also an Education Ambassador for the non-profit organization Fearless Beauty which strives to provide the tools and techniques of hairdressing to underprivileged young women in India. His efforts with the organization have added an extra layer to his understanding of the industry while sparking appreciation for the craft on a global level. “I had to understand the perception of beauty outside of my urban bubble and deliver knowledge to women in a different format than I ever had before. It was a challenge beyond my comfort zone, but it made me a better, more patient educator.”
Greg is currently broadening the scope of his teaching ambitions with specialized demonstrations and workshops in salons nationwide.
